The Village of Plain City is continually working to improve and build upon our many wonderful assets. Plain City has 2 state routes that run right through the center of town, one being Route 42 which is a major truck route. In 2007 the Ohio Department of Transportation built a bypass for Route 42 that redirects those trucks out of our uptown to the perimeter of the Village. With this action the Village and our uptown organization, UPCO, are working for and encouraging a revitaliztion of the uptown. So we anticipate new businesses, increased activity and a renewed look for the uptown, as well as increased commercial growth in general within the Village.
The Village has developed two Community Reinvestment Areas where, once applied for and approved, an entity can receive a tax break for new builds and improvements of buildings in those areas. The Uptown Historical District is one area and land west of the Route 42 bypass is the other area. These areas are prime locations for new businesses. With the two state routes going through the village and being located in close proximity to state routes 70, 33 and 270, it makes Plain City very accessible for companies to do business in central Ohio.
