Planning and Zoning Commission

The Planning and Zoning Commission is a board that exists to oversee planning and zoning as it relates to development and growth.  The Ohio Revised Code sets forth the guidelines for this board in statute (Chapter 713).

The statute specifically states that the Commission shall be composed of five members who reside in the incorporated area of the Village, and shall include the Mayor, one member of Council to be elected thereby for the remainder of his/her term as such member of Council, and three citizens of the Village to be appointed by the Mayor for terms of six years each, except that the term of one of such members of the first commission shall be four years and one for two years.

The Planning & Zoning Commission meets at 6:30pm at 213 South Chillicothe Street, on the third Wednesday of each month.  The general public is welcome to attend these meetings.

In some cases, after a zoning permit is issued by the Village, a building permit must be obtained. The Village will be changing Building Departments in the near future. At this point in time, please continue using the Union County Building Department.
