Zoning Inspector

The Zoning Inspector's duties and enforcement do not supersede, bur rather work in conjunction with the Ohio Revised Code, Ohio Administrative Code and the Ordinances of the Village of Plain City. This position is appointed by the Mayor and reports directly to the Village Administrator.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Issuance of Zoning Permits, Certificate of Zoning Compliance, Collection of fees , Making and keeping of records, Inspection of building or land for code violations, Enforcement of the property maintenance code, Maintaining Zoning Map.

Advises the Planning and Zoning Commission of all matters other than routine duties pertaining to the enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance and transmit to the Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission all applications and records pertaining to supplements and amendments.

Advises Board of Zoning Appeals of all matters pertaining to conditional use permits, appeals or variances and transmit to the Chairman of the Board of Zoning Appeals all applications and records pertaining thereto.

Attends meetings of the Planning and Zoning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals.

 

 

Planning and Zoning Commission

The Planning and Zoning Commission is a board that exists to oversee planning and zoning as it relates to development and growth.  The Ohio Revised Code sets forth the guidelines for this board in statute (Chapter 713).

 

The statute specifically states that the Commission shall be composed of five members who reside in the incorporated area of the Village, and shall include the Mayor, one member of Council to be elected thereby for the remainder of his/her term as such member of Council, and three citizens of the Village to be appointed by the Mayor for terms of six years each, except that the term of one of such members of the first commission shall be four years and one for two years.

 

The Planning & Zoning Commission meets at 6:30pm at 800 Village Blvd.,  the third Wednesday of each month.  The general public is welcome to attend these meetings.
