Solicitation Laws:

The Plain City Council and Police Department have collaborated to update and strengthen solicitation laws. The soliciting laws were updated in June 2012.  Any person who wishes to engage in commercial door-to-door solicitation or mobile vending must apply for and be issued a solicitor’s permit by the Police Department.  There is an application fee of $50, which is non-refundable/non-transferrable.  Solicitation is permitted only from 10am to 7pm, Monday through Saturday, excluding national holidays.  This ordinance also creates a No Knock Registry that enables residents to register their address annually to reduce unwanted solicitations.  Solicitors must download the current No Knock List prior to the start of each business day and are prohibited from contacting anyone on that list.  Applications, Issued Permits, the No Knock Registry/List, and the current Solicitor’s Ordinance (723.01) can be found by visiting the “FORMS” page.
