Comprehensive Plan

The Village was facing a number of challenges and important questions regarding its future as we entered calendar year 2000. By mid-2001 both the community leaders and public agreed that a proactive approach was needed to effectively deal with the many issues at hand. This led to the establishment of the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee, which was made up of a diverse group of approximately 30 community volunteers.

Following a 24 month effort the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee presented their recommendations to Village Council in June 2003. This Plan addressed key topics such as economic development, the environment, future land use, downtown improvement, growth, local government services and administration, parks & recreation, planning and zoning, safety, and transportation, to name only a few. The resulting plan, which included research, recommendations, and an implementation plan provided both a vision and a roadmap to help guide the Village decision making process.

The Plan, adopted by Village Council in September 2003, has proven to be a valuable asset and Council is committed to adhering to the spirit of this Plan.
